LAST WEEK OF WET CLAY. So ridiculously stressful. Just returned home from camp and camping in spokane with no internet. Man. Just trying to get my feet back under me. Today I spun two things which I will be combining tomorrow to form my multi wheel project. Hopefully it will be a vase that I plan to Raku. Going to foot and combine tomorrow, and hopefully spin some more things. Busy busy busy!

So, I got in trouble apparently for not doing blog updates every week, so here is my update for this week...I worked on my little mug today. My hand and wheel, which I spun the body of the cup and pulled the handle, then added a tree bas relief on the outside to alter the surface of the project. Set it in the bisque shelf today, hopefully will be done when I am back from camp counseling!
Bowl being used for my mom's home-made guacamole! Never has that stuff tasted so delicious. (and it's so beautifully displayed!).
So lately I have really been lagging on the weekly blogs..oops.
Well last week I was gone on a choir trip so I wasn't around in ceramics. Sadly. :( However, I FINALLY got on a wheel today (thanks to the ingenious new sign up system, Thank you very much Mrs. Heideman!) and I made a really big bowl and my lidded project! WOOT WOOT. So stoked about it. It was very difficult cause I suck at lids, but I figured it out. yeaaahh. GO ARIANA. Well, I am actually very proud of myself this quarter. I have made, 12 projects to completion, and there are 6 more on the way right now which will be finished after the quarter! I have come very far in my spinning technique too. I made five projects in one day, and I never could have done that before if I hadn't practiced so much. So in terms of that, my work has been improving every day, and I love this class the more and more I am in it! I have been doing my clean up every day, I wipe my wheel and I make sure to tell newbies when they don't clean up. I've been trying to keep my space as clean as I can, however, my jumpsuit is another story...I have been trying very hard to do well in this class because I love it so much, and I am very proud of myself. Go Ariana!
Yesterday I made two projects in class, and then came in after school, and made three more! THAT'S FIVE IN ONE DAY! WOOOHOO. So proud of myself! Ceramics has really been a positive place for me this week. It calms me down and allows my brain to just go into creative mode, and I have been looking forward to it every single day this week. So glad that I am finally to this stage and not being frustrated anymore! I love ar
My first bowl came out of the kiln and the glaze is beautiful! I am so thrilled with it. I made all the bowls to look sort of similar, and my set of three, I am thinking, will be mixing glazes. I footed and put my third bowl in the bisque on friday so that should be out soon, and my second bowl is waiting to be glazed! Very excited! Now I just need to start thinking about all of my other projects I have to do! So busy this week! Agh! I will keep you posted!....hahaha, get it...posted? Because it's a blog...okay. Sorry. I am done now.
I am working on a set of three of bowls! Yay. I made one that had a crack in it when it was bisqued, so hopefully it comes out of the glaze okay. I footed my second bowl today and sent that one off to the bisque as well. Productive day!
Argh! Another day where none of my things have been run! I have been missing the glaze and bisque kilns by like a couple projects each time and it is getting so frustrating! Neither of my soup bowls have been turned in yet, as they just haven't been put in the kiln! Also am currently waiting on the vase project I made on the friday before break to be bisqued! Here's a shot of it on the day that I spun it! Since then it has been footed and set to be bisqued! More projects (hopefully) to come soon.
So this is the time when I actually figured out how to work this weebly, sorry for the inconvenience! I am new to this whole website thing! However, all prior posts to this day are found under "Home" and then "Ceramics Early"!

Ariana ChriestI am a theatre geek at heart, and so I am ridiculously creative, and usually have no place to put all of that creative energy. So here I am, in ceramics, using those creative juices to make something useful! Archives
